Newark's New AirBNB Rules Could Mean Hefty Fines

NEWARK - Mayor Ras J. Baraka announced earlier this month that the City of Newark is now enforcing a municipal ordinance that requires property owners to register and obtain a permit for short-term rentals from the City’s Department of Engineering. They can access applications through a portal on the city’s website.

 NJ Congressman Bill Pascrell dies at age 87 New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy acknowledged the passing of Congressman Bill Pascrell recently. He commented on Twitter, “Tammy and I are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend Congressman Bill Pascrell, a giant of New Jersey and a lifelong champion for our most vulnerable neighbors. We send our heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family and loved ones.”  

New Jersey Athletes Were Big Winners in Paris 2024 Olympics

 

Paris, France — The Paris 2024 Olympics have turned into a grand celebration for New Jersey, as several of its top athletes returned home with a dazzling array of medals. From basketball courts to swimming pools, the Garden State’s finest made their mark on the world stage with standout performances.

Leading the charge was Bam Adebayo from Newark, who helped the Team USA men’s basketball team to a gold medal. Adebayo’s athleticism and leadership were crucial in securing the top spot, and his performance was a key highlight of the Games. “Winning gold with my teammates is a dream come true,” Adebayo said, beaming with pride. 

Belize Toddler Comes to Newark for Life-Saving Heart Surgery

 NEWARK – Doctors from the Children’s Heart Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, part of the Children’s Health network of RWJBarnabas Health and one of the leading heart centers in the country and the only pediatric heart surgery center in New Jersey, performed life-saving surgery on a two-year-old patient suffering from a rare congenital heart disease. The surgery included a patch of the pulmonary artery.

Newark Mayor Baraka Teams with HELLOFRESH for Meal Distribution

NEWARK - Mayor Ras J. Baraka joined with HelloFresh, No Kid Hungry, and Newark Board of Education Superintendent Roger León to distribute 4,000 free meals to families and youth at risk and in need yesterday at Chancellor Avenue Elementary School. The school is located at 321 Chancellor Avenue in Newark’s South Ward.
